Cockeyed Ghost专辑介绍:by Stewart MasonCockeyed Ghost's second album (and last with the original lineup) is a rocking blend of power pop and sweeter confections. Produced, like its predecessor, by garage rock great Earle Mankey, Neverest boasts sharper hooks and wittier songwriting than 1996's Keep Yourself Amused; all 11 tracks feature memorable choruses and smart, often funny lyrics. Singer/songwriter Adam Marsland is in complete control on this album, though bassist Rob Cassell's falsetto harmonies add a special Beach Boys-like thrill to songs like "I'm OK, You're Not OK" and drummer James Hazely powers his way through most of the album like Bun E. Carlos' bastard son. Highlights include "Binghamton," a backhanded tribute to Marsland's upstate New York hometown, and the spiraling "Walking in Winter," the album's musical and emotional high point. A powerful and melodically satisfying album, Neverest was the first hint that Cockeyed Ghost might be capable of something special.
