简介
‘Throw away your TV’ is a lyrical request from Jah Mex that leaves some people questioning if he’s taken his own advice. The answer is yes; his TV is toast. This singer/songwriter’s debut album, Firm Soundation, was produced by veteran reggae bassist from Jamaica, Fully Fullwood. Recent singles from Jah Mex including "Dub You" and "Like a Lion" were recorded with members of the Soul Syndicate Band, featuring Santa Davis on drums, Tony Chin playing guitar, and Fully Fullwood on bass. A “Conscious Revolution” burns through Jah Mex’s message. He invites the listener to do a little soul searching, and mocks mainstream media with questions like ‘where did all the music go on MTV’? As a Southern California native, Jah Mex's first exposure to music was jazz, rock and soul from his mother's 1960's record collection. After discovering roots reggae music from friends in Laguna Beach, he was inspired to play the bubbling organ rhythm fashioned by Jamaican keyboard players like Ossie Hibbert, Earl “Wya” Lindo, and Keith Sterling. Jah Mex’s sophomore album is set to release May, 2013. He’s also played keyboards for well noted reggae artists including Eek A Mouse, Marcia Griffiths, Mighty Diamonds, Tippa Irie, Lloyd Hemmings, Boom Shaka, Detour Posse and Lesterfari and Kings Music.
