James "Chi The Realist" Boykins , was Born January 1, 1994 in Chicago Illinois. he was moved to Rochester NY as a kid so his dad could raise him. His childhood friend (step-brother) gave him the name "Chi"(Shy) when he was 13 because he always represented his birthplace and it stuck since then. He has been writing raps since he was 14, and began pursuing his dreams at 16. in 2011-2012 he began perfecting his craft as not only just a writer but an entertainer, and it all started at this after school program called "Cypher" in downtown Rochester NY. There he learned crowd control, acting, and even show hosting. The Cypher program made him the entertainer that he is today, and with the help he got he continues to improve. "Music is my support, without music I wouldn't be where I am today, It's all I got. Music is NOT a hobby, NOT a backup plan, Music is my life and i'm just sharing my stories". As far as his sound goes, he is a versatile artist and prides himself on being able to do anything he puts his mind to, and whatever sounds right for the project that he's working on. There isn't a particular artist that he sounds like, just artists that influence him musically (J. Cole, Machine Gun Kelly, Kendrick Lamar, Meek Mill, etc.). Unlike most hip-hop/rap artist he didn't grow up in a hip-hop/rap atmosphere, he was exposed to mostly pop music growing up until he was a young kid and developed a taste for music. Also his musical inspiration and favorite rapper is J. Cole.
