简介
"Deep Peace" by Three2U is a heart felt journey through the musical lives of 3 men destined to sing the "song of the heart." With fresh vocals, as well as new and powerful orchestral arrangements, "Deep Peace" has a style that will appeal to all generations, but more importantly, these songs will build courage and strength in uncertain times. Songs about family, marriage, patriotism, tolerance, and respect for one another, will inspire, motivate, and bring peace to the soul. With each song carefully chosen, Three2U's talents have been enhanced by bringing together many other talented individuals to create this project. Individuals such as Richard Talbot, Sam Cardon, Randy Kartchner, Michael Dowdle, Barry Gibbons, Mathew Neeley, Scarlett Rabe, Freddie Ashby, and more. The album covers an equally diverse range of genres from contemporary country, progressive bluegrass, to christian pop and A cappella. ALBUM CREDITS 1. BLUE SKIES Words and Music by: Grant Cunningham & Matt Huesmann Time and space will not allow us to put into words all that has happened to the three of us these past years. Life brings challenges, but looking back, we see that those challenges have turned into wonderful opportunities. Yes, there have been “days of gray,” but oh how sweet are the “blue skies,” thanks to family, friends, and Him of whom we sing. He's our joy, He's the dream that's still alive! I BELIEVE Words and Music by: Skip Ewing and Donni Kees This is not the first time Jon has called and said that he found a song “we need to do” on the album. And for good reason! After listening, we knew he was right. Little did we know, that only a short while later, we would meet and become good friends with Dan Truman of Diamond Rio whose group originally made this song famous. This song, as well as Dan’s friendship, has impacted us for good. Lead Vocal: Jon Buehner Background Vocals: Richard Talbot, Joe Tenney Arrangement: Randy Kartchner db Studios Recording Session Produced by: Randy Kartchner Guitars: David Cleveland Mandolin, Dobro & Fiddle: Wanda Vick Instrument Session Engineer: Doug Beiden at db Studios, Nashville, TN Copyright: Write! WITHOUT END (Love My Daughter) Words and Music by: Matthew Neeley Matt’s genius talent and influence in our music is as meaningful as his love and friendship in our lives. And it just so happens that he's also Jon's cousin. This song was originally titled “Love our Sister,” written by Matt and sung by him and his brothers for their sister’s wedding. In a potentially collaborative meeting with the late producer Chuck Bird (with NBC), we had asked him to preview a few of our album tunes. Upon listening to 'Without End', he exclaimed: “What a beautiful song!" And then when asked for suggestions to enhance the arrangement, he said: “What do you need my help for? You have everything you need. It's perfect as is!” 'Without End' is for all the dads in the world that have been placed in the bittersweet position of giving away a precious daughter in marriage. ONE MORE DAY Words and Music by: Steven Jones / Bobby Tomberlin Dedicated to the memory of Charlee Hawkins [1987-2005] - For Kent and Char Hawkins' Family. We never know when our life might touch someone for good, even someone we don’t know. Charlee’s life was that way. She was a special person, taken too early, but in her short years she “touched” countless lives - many she did not even know. Certainly, her memory and influence for good, will live on in our hearts. We first sang this song at the first annual benefit concert for generating scholarship funds in memory of Charlee's unfailing spirit. HELP THEM, THE ANGELS CRY Words and Music by: Matthew Neeley / Jeffrey B. Melton We are extremely grateful for the gift of this song from Matthew. It's message rings true for all of us, especially today-to strive to live lives of service and generosity to those around us, and that it is He who has given us all, even the air that we breathe. Unseen heavenly ministrations of angels whisper urges for us to join them in the cause to pass by no one in need. “And by so doing we will come to understand that we are all brothers and sisters. It depends on you; it depends on me. You and me...and His Great Love.” (Spanish translation) Lead vocals: Jon Buehner, Joe Tenney, Richard Talbot Background Vocals: Three2U Arrangement: Randy Kartchner Acoustic Guitars: Michael Dowdle Guitar Session Engineered by: Barry Gibbons at Platinum Sound & Mastering Lab, Bountiful, UT Copyright: 2003 Matthew Neely 6. PRAYER OF THE CHILDREN Words and Music by: Kurt Bestor Years ago Richard sang all of the tracks of Kurt’s heart touching masterpiece, to give a copy to family and friends. When we decided to put this song on the album, Richard wanted to add our voices, but we told him that we weren’t going to let him change a thing on his inspired performance. Vocals: Richard Talbot Vocal Arrangement: Greg Hansen Copyright: 1995 Riverbreeze Music / BMI 7. BELIEVE (From "Polar Express") Words and Music by: Glen Ballard, Alan Silvestri The first song that we ever sang together as a trio was a Christmas song. With this already being a “diverse” album, how could we not include at least one Christmas song on the project? “Trains move quickly to their journey’s end.” What would this short journey of life be without our unfailing beliefs and faith - faith on ourselves... and in Him? For Erin. BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER Words and Music by: Paul Simon / Bobby Scott / Bobby Russell HE AIN'T HEAVY, HE' MY BROTHER Words and Music by: Bobby Scott and Bobby Russell In our trials and travels through life these past years, and in narrowing down our growing list of choices for songs to include on our album, Richard's wife Paula was urging us on to record "Bridge Over Troubled Water" fueled by a special request from her mother. At nearly the same time, Joe, while quite literally speeding down the freeway was feeling especially impacted by the message and timeliness of "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" which brought deep solace to him during a very difficult time in life. "Bridge" and "He Ain't Heavy" are two of the most beloved and powerfully meaningful folk/pop ballads from a much younger era for us. Yet even today, they have both stood the test of time and remain 'classics'. Paula begged the question why not do both together somehow? Joe took the concept and developed it even further by blending the songs together, and Richard did the rest! HEAL OUR LAND Words by: Orrin G. Hatch Music by: Janice Kapp Perry “Heal Our Land” is a patriotic anthem that has touched our lives. The lyrics were written by Senator Orrin Hatch. Most recently, we've had the rare privilege of singing this song on the floor of the Arizona State Senate. It is a reminder to us all of who ultimately grants us our freedoms…and a reminder of just how sacred and fragile those freedoms and privileges are. Lead Vocals: Joe Tenney, Jon Buehner, Richard Talbot Orchestra & Choir Produced and Arranged by: Greg Hansen Recording/Mixing Engineers: Guy Randle and Steve Lerud at Rosewood Recording Co. & Lakeview Recording Copyright: 2000 Orrin G. Hatch (ASCAP) and Janice Kapp Perry (BMI) 10. THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER Words by: Francis Scott Key Music by: John Stafford Smith Not long ago, Richard was comissioned by the Gilbert Constitution Week comittee to arrange, produce, record and then perform a uniqely original version of 'The Star Spangled Banner'. It was performed at that year's main event and it was also included on the Consitution Week's "The Fortress Stone" patriotic album. It's unique in that the arrangement includes not only the traditional verse heard in the National Anthem, but also the final fourth and even more touching verse that is rarely performed or heard by the public. It took on very special meaning to Richard whose son was currently serving his 1st tour of duty in Iraq in the Air Force as one of the willing "freemen" standing "between their loved home and the war's desolation". The three of us share a great debt of gratitude to all those who have 'stood in harms way' for the protection of our families, our country, and our God-given liberties. Lead Vocal: Richard Talbot Background Vocals: Three2U Arranged and Orchestrated by: Richard Talbot Copyright: 2007 Richard Talbot Music 11. BRIGHTLY BEAMS OUR FATHER’S MERCY Words and Music: Philip Paul Bliss, 1838 – 1876 How many times have we casually sung this hymn without pondering the meaning of the imagery. As we worked to bring Richard's arrangement to performance level, we became very aware that the Lord is counting on each of us to be His "lower lights" to help bring about the work of saving souls. This hymn helps to remind us of our duty to open our mouths and share the gospel. We never know at what point along life's journey that we may be fainting or struggling. How grateful we are for the the constant illumination of His Lighthouse, and for those in our lives that never let their "lower lights" grow dim. Vocals: Freddie Ashby, Three2U Arranged by: Richard Talbot Copyright: 2009 Richard Talbot Music 12. TO MAKE MEN HOLY Words and Music by: Matthew Neeley We are firm believers in the fact that nothing happens by accident. A number of years ago we had the privilege of working with Matt Neeley. He is an accomplished arranger and songwriter and has the most humble of hearts. He introduced us to this song. At once we knew it needed to be included on our album. It is a witness of Christ and his Ministry through song. Our ultimate desire in this piece is to testify of Him. Lead Vocals: Joe Tenney, Richard Talbot, Jon Buehner Background vocals: Three2U Oboe: Eileen Ermel Arrangement by: Randy Kartchner Orchestration and Instrumentation by: Randy Kartchner and Richard Talbot Copyright: 2003 Matthew Neely 13. HOW GREAT THOU ART Words by: Stuart K. Hine, b. 1899 Music: Swedish Folk melody, ca. 1891. There is perhaps no song that has been done and redone more often than 'How Great Thou Art'. Because it is so widely known and popular, we are requested to sing it often. We love this song of adoration and worship, and have tried to put together an arrangement and performance that if nothing else, bears our collective unfailing witness of Him who is Creator of all things. Tanner (Poetic paraphrase of 2Nephi 4) Music by: Jen Sibelius The words of this song coupled with the harmonies and melodies of this familiar hymn ('Be Still My Soul') were a perfect fit for our trio and was a great excuse to invite Freddie to join us and make it a quartet. This beautiful soliloquy taken from 2nd Nephi 4, is the prophet Nephi's humble prayerful confession of sin, a declaration of perfect faith, and a jubilant song of praise. Vocals: Freddie Ashby, Tree2U Arrangement by: Ronald J. Staheli Copyright: 2007, 2000 Jackman Music Corporation 15. A GAELIC BLESSING (Deep Peace) Words and Music by: John Rutter The one certain thing about this album, is that we knew from the very beginning that it would be titled: 'Deep Peace.' Although last on the album, 'A Gaelic Blessing' was one of the very first songs we recorded. This song is more like a prayer. A prayer for all, that somehow we can be blessed with deep and abiding feelings of peace in our lives, in spite of how rough life's trials, pains, and sorrows can become. There is true healing on the wings of His great love. Vocals: Three2U Arranged and Orchestrated by: Richard Talbot Copyright: 1978 Hinshaw Music, Inc.
