Still Here, Still Smiling marks a continued return to form for the one-man dynamo that is Clive Culbertson. Two years ago the songwriter, session man and in-demand record producer released Still Havin Fun, his first solo album in 30 years, and now he’s back, with an even glossier and beautifully-realised collection of 70s-style pop/rock. Clive Culbertson is one of Northern Ireland’s most celebrated musicians – in a glittering career he has scaled the pop charts as frontman for Irish powerpop sensations The Sweat, he has been one of the region’s most sought-after session musicians and record producers. And he has recorded and toured with the mighty Van Morrison Band at the peak of its powers – he is the bass player on Van’s album Avalon Sunset, the album which delivered Van’s monster hit ‘Have I Told You Lately That I Love You’, among others.
