简介
"... reminds me of those harmony bands from the early seventies, ... like 'America' and 'Crosby, Stills & Nash' ... very easy on the ear" Hardly surprising, considering those two bands were amongst many of the musical influences on Graham and Pete, during their guitar 'apprenticeship', some 40 years ago. From Peter Green to Jimi Hendrix; from James Taylor to Neil Young; from the Beatles to Bob Dylan; from the WHO to Led Zeppelin: - all were to play their part in shaping Graham and Pete's early style. Graham Lockyer and Peter May, both Southampton 'born and bred', first met at Itchen VI Form College, during September, 1970. Sharing similar musical tastes, they pursued this mutual interest by forming their first band; along with two other local Southampton Itchen College pals, Barry Woolnough (Guitar) and Pete Crawford (Percussion). By the mid to late 70s Graham and Pete had produced a number of their own compositions, all recorded at home, on their Sony (Sound On Sound) Reel to Reel tape recorder. By the end of that decade, their respective Teacher Training careers led them to separate paths. A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then, but the two have always remained close friends. During 2010, they discussed the idea of re-visiting some of their favourite songs from those early years. Of course, some of the tracks needed more than a little 'nip and tuck', from a song structural perspective, before they would be happy to release them, but with joint enthusiasm they set about that very task. Work started on this album during summer, 2009. It was clear that a straightforward 're-recording' of their earlier material would not exactly 'pass' the critical ears of today's listening public. Those early songs had some fine melodies and great ideas, but formal song writing techniques were none too evident. The challenge was to keep the 'feel' and 'style' of the originals, but re-write, and in many cases, create new 'Verse', 'Bridge' and 'Lyric' sections, where necessary. By mid 2010, the re-writing was complete, and work began on recording the 'new', at Graham's professional Studio, at Dol de Bretagne, North West FRANCE. The project was completed during April 2011. Enjoy the album, "Entente Cordiale".
