简介
Despite living on different continents, Nicky Bendix and Sora have found an easy compatibility in their collaboration for Giant’s Causeway. Originally written for an independent short film, Giant’s Causeway marks the first project for this duo who met over mysapce, and despite a quick and easy friendship, have never actually met in person. Regardless, their shared love of mythic story and haunting melody has traversed the distance between their homelands and shows that technology has truly erased all borders. In the last 20 years, Nicky Bendix has written music for modern dance performances, installation arts, spiritual gatherins and live concert venues. Living in Denmark currently, Bendix's music is born of spontaneous improvisations and is what could be called an "exploration of inner and outer worlds". His collected works form a fascinating, organic, melodic and abstract journey into an unknown aspect of reality. Canadian singer-songwriter, Sora weaves together contemporary stylings with the mystical moods of Celtic folk, New age, medieval madrigals and other modes of early music. The result is a heady, colourfully evocative tapestry that conjures the imagery of long ago but feels just as current as anything from the present musical landscape – all while sounding like little else on today’s airwaves. Sora has released 2 albums (Winds of Change in 2003 and Heartwood in 2009) and is currently working towards a new album. With a penchant for threading stories and narratives through her live performance of swirling harp, earthy percussion, ethereal backups and soaring vocals, this much is clear; you have never heard anything quite like Sora.
