Katrin’s Bio Katrin takes acoustic-based rock to new and exciting places. Her skillful guitar work and powerful voice make Katrin shine wherever she appears. Her songwriting has won her national recognition at competitions including The Mountain Stage New Song Festival in WV, where Katrin’s original song “Present Moment” rose to the top out of over four hundred entries. Katrin performs frequently around the New England area and has received excellent reviews in articles written by music critics from USA Today, Metronome Magazine, The Lowell Sun, The TAB Newspaper and many more. She has been crafting her melodic, passionate songwriting style since 1991. Katrin was raised in a musical family and her natural ability to sing introduced her to the stage at the tender age of three. She began playing the violin at age seven and sang in church choir, choruses, orchestra and musicals throughout her school-age years. After graduating from high school, Katrin formed a band as the lead singer, learned how to play guitar and discovered songwriting as her mode of self-expression. She began performing in Boston clubs and coffeehouses, developing her self-taught style, busking the streets of Boston, bringing her music all the way to The Fringe Arts Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Katrin experiments with and uses many different guitar tunings in her songwriting that weave her voice and music into a lush tapestry. Her diverse background, playing in different bands and as a solo artist has given her great command of the stage. Her performances have been described as “riveting” and “soul stirring” with nothing but her guitar and a voice that will send shivers down your spine. Katrin’s third CD release entitled “Soul Wide Open” is being launched this spring.
