简介
Mossy Stone is not a concept album, but a series of influences accumulated by a folk artist/sonic pack rat who won't settle. The complex and articulate vocal melodies lug roots of Mississippi blues, old country, folk and soul with a sound of having been somewhere, en route to the next stop. Twangy riffs alongside simple and powerful drum parts centered by the rhythm guitar reach back to Muscle Shoals R&B records, simultaneously rendering vibes of outlaw & alt-country. All the while lyrical depth and literary reference are cornerstones of the songs, which are also in essence folk songs. “A gentleman at a pub once said I sound like Mick Jagger. Another said Dolly Parton. Another city told me Dylan. The next June Carter. The last Aretha Franklin. Imagine that amalgamation.” Music styles and stories are the moss that eventually collects when you keep on ramblin', rockin' and rollin' and that's the statement this artist makes in her debut EP.
