"Trajetótias" (2016) is Maurício de Souza’s new album, featuring his Brazilian jazz group, Bossa Brasil®. The live recording consists of nine tracks of arrangements of compositions by Tom Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Hermeto Pascoal, and Pat Metheny. The group is a quiartet/quintet with Maurício de Souza on drums, Dmitry Baevsky on alto sax, Jerry Weir on vibraphone, Bob Rodriguez on keyboard, and Gary Mazzaroppi on acoustic bass. The tracks feature Bossa Novas, Sambas, and Baiãos, in medium, slow, and fast tempos. The music is soothing, exciting, and energetic, taking the listener on a journey through the rhythms and melodies of Brazil. Track descriptions: 1. Vivo Sonhando (Tom Jobim) – This classic Bossa Nova is performed in a quartet format with Maurício de Souza on drums, Dmitry Baevsky on alto sax, Jerry Weir on vibraphone, and Gary Mazzaroppi on acoustic bass. Solos by Baevsky, Weir, and de Souza. 2. Bebê (Hermeto Pascoal) – This track is a Baião, performed in a quintet format with Maurício de Souza on drums, Dmitry Baevsky on alto sax, Jerry Weir on vibraphone, Bob Rodriguez on keyboard, and Gary Mazzaroppi on acoustic bass. Solos by Baevsky, Weir, and Rodriguez. 3. Fotografia (Tom Jobim) – This is a slow Bossa Nova, performed in a quartet format with Maurício de Souza on drums, Dmitry Baevsky on alto sax, Jerry Weir on vibraphone, and Gary Mazzaroppi on acoustic bass. Chovendo Na Roseira (Tom Jobim) – This lovely Jobim Waltz is performed in a quintet format with Maurício de Souza on drums, Dmitry Baevsky on alto sax, Jerry Weir on vibraphone, Bob Rodriguez on keyboard, and Gary Mazzaroppi on acoustic bass. Inútil Paisagem – This pulsating Samba is performed in a quartet format with Maurício de Souza on drums, Dmitry Baevsky on alto sax, Jerry Weir on vibraphone, and Gary Mazzaroppi on acoustic bass.
