简介
Being two teenagers, playing in front of an audience of more than five thousand people is still rather strange. But for Midas and Gilles Meester, it is quite common. With their father Frank, these two brothers have been headlines at several European festivals. THE MAESTROs, as they call themselves, came to fame after they toured and visited venues in Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, France and Italy after only making a demo. THE MAESTROs is a band around the Dutch Meester family. “Meester” is the Dutch word for “Master,” which means “Maestro” in Italian. Frank Meester (1970) always was, and still is, a singer, guitar and bass player in the top of the Dutch jazz scene. Highlights in his musical career have included collaborations with the Rosenberg Trio, Martin Taylor and Mick Jagger. And performances on stages such as the North Sea Jazz Festival or the Montreux Jazz Festival. But in his free time he always made music with his two talented sons Midas (1994) and Gilles (1996). With Midas singing and playing the drums, Gilles playing piano and guitar, their mother Valerie had the idea of forming a band. And so be it. For some time the only success they had was with uncles and aunts at birthday parties, but as the boys grew older, they got to know new and very popular genres like pop, rock and dance. The two little guys began to mix the popular stuff with jazz music and suddenly the band had his own very special sound. The idea developed over the years to a whole formula mixing Jazz with Pop, Rock or Dance and vice versa. From that moment on, they were an instant hit far beyond the living rooms of family. In the summer of 2010 they made the step to real audiences. After only releasing a demo – “Fresh Hair And Business Class Casual But Party Hardy”, which they recorded in only one week – in the spring of 2011, the three guys got the chance to sell it on a tour across five countries.
