First things first, my name is Christian Lizardi. How did the name Cliz come about? Well, if you take a close look at my name you can figure it out. It all started when I first signed up for Xbox Live in 8th Grade. I wasn’t home when my brother and father set up my account and they set it up as cliz23. The original name was pronounced c-liz23, but for some reason, I stuck with Cliz and people have called me that ever since. In high school, I was referred to as several nicknames and Cliz was among them. Now that you know the background story of how my name came about, I’m sure the next question you are asking is what type of style do you have or even who do you resemble the most when it comes to rapping styles or flows? Well I would have to say that I don’t particularly restrict myself to one style. The feeling comes when I’m getting lost in the instrumental. I’m an all around music person so what feels good at that moment in time is what inspires me to write a certain style. Since I moved around over 10 times as a child and teenager, I experienced different cultures and different styles of music. But I would have to say that my Southern roots is what stuck with me. With that being said, I do have some southern rap influences such as Lil Wayne and Yo Gotti that molded my mind in the sense that they helped me establish a sense of character when it come to rapping. They showed me that you do stop at nothing; they showed me that you don’t listen to what a hater says; they showed me that being yourself when you write is the best way to connect to the audience and I pride myself at doing just that. These two rappers, as well as, a handful of others inspired me and two other friends to write a rap one day. We all wrote a verse and met up at Mack’s house to record it. We recorded on Audacity with Guitar Hero mic and it’s safe to say that Cliz was born in that room on that very day.
