Raymond Lee Miles, known to us as Pete Miles was born in Huntsville, Texas on September 7, 1964. Huntsville is located about 80 miles north of Houston. His parents are Sherman Miles of Grapeland, TX and Darlene Miles of Buffalo, NY. As a child Pete had several different types of hobbies such as fishing, hunting, swimming and writing, but his favorite was the love of music. He grew up listening to all the legends of country music, such as George Jones, Porter Wagner, Hank Sr., Willie Nelson and more. At the age of 15 Pete got to do something people dream of!!! A local artist by the name of Jimmy Dry took him to Sugar Hill Studios and had him sing back-up on a song called "The Tears of a Clown". While at the studio, Pete also got to meet a well known entertainer Freddy Fender who is now a legend pioneering the Tejano Music Movement. In 1979 he began writing and singing. While in his teens, Pete wrote songs, went to school, played ball and worked with his dad like normal kids. At the age of 19 he left and joined the United States Army. While stationed in Europe, Pete got to perform at several venues, once opening for Dolly Parton and Jonny Lee. He performed in several parts of Europe as well as serving his country, just like his inspiration, his grandfather. He returned home from the Army in 1989, started singing with several different bands such as Bootleg Country, Young Country, Cross Creek and Silverado. Working around Houston, Pete got to open for several now well known artists such as Willie Nelson, Gene Watson, Merle Haggard, Toby Keith, Shania Twain, Tracy Byrd, Gary Stewart and many others. In 1993, Pete went to Las Vegas where he performed in several casinos and in November of 1993 he won the American Eagle award for song writer of the year from the Country Music Association of America. He now had another dream he wanted to fulfill. That dream was to write and produce his own album. In 1995 Pete wrote all the songs, produced and obtained that goal. The album "Miles to Go" had brief success within 3 months of Pete singing and promoting it just like Loretta Lynn did on her movie. Pete had people listening to it on over 800 stations and in 11 states, he then returned home to do a radio show with Lisa Dent, a disc jockey for KILT and KIKR in Houston. Right after the radio show he returned home and got the call from Nashville saying they were interested. MCA records liked four of Pete’s songs and wanted him to re-record them in Nashville. Pete packed his bags and headed for the city where he knew his dreams of making it could come true. Instead of re-recording just the four songs MCA liked, Pete wrote, recorded and produced six new songs and added them to the four they liked and made the second album entitled "Miles to Go 2". In 2001, Pete wrote and produced another album entitled "Leave the Lights On". Pete and his wife Mandy live in the small town of Crockett, TX. He’s still performing and in late 2004 recorded, wrote and produced his forth album entitled "Stone Cold Country", a brilliant look into the heart and soul of a writer who has now been writing, performing and recording for 26 years. To this date it’s not completely known how many songs Pete has written, but, some say that he has written as many as 4,000 songs; country, gospel, blues, rock and R&B. This guy is "the real deal", if you don’t believe it, spend a day with him!!!!!
