Yacoub's Long awaited Album is now coming at you.Yacoub aka Jacob Soubeiga, originally from Burkina Faso, was born in the Village of Kiffa (Mauritania) in 1954. Yacoub is a Guitarist, Singer, Music Composer and Arranger. He has also written music for movies. His Musical Journey Started in 1972 with the “ Super Biton du Mali”. At this time he was the youngest guitar player of the band. In 1983 his old friend Thomas Sankara became head of Upper Volta government and, changed the name of Upper Volta to Burkina Faso. In 1984, President Sankara called to ask him if he would become the Artistic Director of the Coulombs of the Revolution. This would give Yacoub the opportunity to write music for 3 movies that would end up as African Classics “Karim & Salaby Idrissa Ouedraogo”, “Tounga by Djim Kola” and “Laada by Touré”. In 1987 Thomas Sankara was assassinated in the capital city of Ouagadougou, at the age of 37. This would affect Yacoub and many Africans tremendously and would force him to take a break from music for a couple of years. He has worked and performed with people like: Salif Keita, Carlos Santana, Cheick Tidian Seck, Allassane Soumano, Mahamane Tandina, Oumou Sangaré, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sekouba Bambino, Africando to name but a few.
