简介
On her second album “The Naked Sessions”, Tamar presents her own personal interpretation of a collection of Māori songs composed by Māori artists from various tribes around New Zealand. This album is also a celebration of Tamar´s music and her unique ability to combine the worlds of te reo (the Māori language) and english, pioneering to bring together the sounds of Māori music, jazz and the world. The title of the album “The Naked Sessions” describes exactly what the album is – Naked – Tamar singing and playing the piano, live and solo. The album was recorded at La Casa Murada in Tarragona in 2 days with 50 takes (Tamar playing the equivalent of 5 concerts in 2 days). The songs were recorded in one take and some put down on the first take (for example where she is improvising on track 8 “Silence”). The album was mixed in Blind Records in Barcelona and mastered in London at Fluid Mastering. “Hypnotic” is the word most frequently used to describe the voice of Tamar. As a vocalist, musician and artist, she has been reviewed as “strong and flexible… romantic and effectively mysterious” (Graham Reid from Elsewhere), who places Tamar amongst “the young lions of jazz”. Tamar has invested herself greatly and has gone well off the beaten track to seek her own freedom and to develop an individual expression of the human voice. Tamar’s music reflects the profound and sometimes mind-boggling experiences from her life. She tells her story in a very honest and personal way and those who listen to Tamar are led on an extraordinary journey through geographical, emotional and spiritual landscapes.
