简介
Having spent the better part of the last 14 years listening to and enjoying The Son Caribe Band, I feel particularly qualified and honored to comment on this unique dance band. When people from around the world think of Hawaii, the first thing that comes to mind is world famous beaches, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, and of course the Aloha spirit. But one thing also takes visitors to our Hawaiian Paradise by surprise is abundance of world-class musical talent that is heard across the islands. One expects to hear typical Hawaiian melodies, but to hear – the salsa band that has received ©Grammy Award consideration is quite a pleasant and welcome surprise. The Son Caribe Band has been entertaining audiences and packing dance floors throughout the state and abroad. Since 2002, they performed alongside and open concerts for some of the biggest names in Latin music, including legendary "Queen of Salsa" - the late Celia Cruz. Their international resume includes performances in Japan, The Philippines, and Guam. The latest recording "Salsa in Paradise" includes a blend of hot Latin dance classics and smooth standards sure to please your musical palette. Lead vocalist Cynthia Romero shines with her sultry voice and masterful percussion work on all the tracks. Cynthia sings in seven languages, which is a definite plus when they travel and perform abroad. Special invited guest vocalist Luisito Rosario, along with longtime band members Lionel Franco and Jerry Rivera round out a quartet of vocalists that bring a distinct flavor to each song. Band leader Eddie Ortiz leads the band and its horn section with unique and stylish arrangements. From the first note to the last, this is truly…a dancer's band. Enjoy! Ray Cruz Hawaii Public Radio
