简介

Buy this for your mum or dad...or for someone you know who loves gardening...which I hope is yourself. I wrote these garden songs from my heart. The first..."The Garden Song"...is a happy little anthem that embodies why we love our garden. The next track sums up what I'd do if I could biuld a Garden for the world. I'd start with a garden in my heart...then I'd build a garden for my friends...and then a garden for the world. Then comes a song called "Heidi...let's pick Daffodils" I think I always loved that name...maybe because my sister had books about "Heidi"...anyway here is is...a bouncy bright littel folksy type song. Next "The Celestial Rose". I wanted to write a song about a Rose...a romantic song...and here's what came out. A lovely songs of a young couple walking in their garden in 1913...just before the first world war. The 'discover' a Celestial Rose...and he being very romantic picks off a flower and puts it under her nose. She keeps the rose and presses it in her Bible as a symbol of their love. Then war comes and he haas to go away in the army...and he goes missing...but she just feels that their...symbolised by the Celestial Rose...will keep him safe. Then one day as she id walking in the garden...she turns...and he is there...this time with another celestial Rose...and this time with a kiss...puts it under her nose...and of course they marry...and the song ends with..."and their children will play in a garden where grows...a flower that's called The celestial Rose... Now to "Old Mrs Watts"...I wrote this song from my childhood. My mum used to take me across the road when I was about five...to see a neighbour...Mrs Watts who had all these garden pots...she had a cat I could play with...and I knew if I was good...I'd get scones, jam and cream...another cute little song where I revisit Mrs Watts and have a conversation with her... Now...one of my favourites..."The Garden Waltz". It's about a Fifty Year Wedding Anniversary...held in the garden. All the family and friends are there...and you'll even hear the sound of the grand children's laughter. Now...two of the daughters have a secret surprise as they have brought their Cello and Violin...and they've written a lovely verse for their mum to sing to their dad as they play...and it goes like this... "Can I have one more waltz round the garden with you As we pass by the roses I'll pick one for you And before I forget let me say something true Thanks for a wonderful life with you" Got a fifty Year Wedding Anniversary coming up for you or someone?...This is perfect. My sister used to read me fairie stories when I was little...so I'm sure this sis where the next song came from "Fairies at the bottom of Your Garden" Everyone loves it. Then you'll hear what it like in "The Garden After Rain" Starting with a thunder storm and rain...and as it clears the song begins...as I cross the grass in my bear feet...and find my favourite garden seat... I just felt I had to write this next song...and once I had the title...it just wrote itself..."I Love Trees"...have a listen and get your skipping shoes on. Next? "In the Garden in the Moonlight"...the garden at night...who doesnt love their garden then? Now a foot tappin, hand clappin song of a day at the nursery...get your boot scootin' boots on and come along... Almost finished..."The Little weeping Willow" A nice story that starts off sad...and ends up glad... Now the last track is special. You know how we all love a story...well here is our version of "The Cracked Por." It's an ancient story I re wrote and had my friend Phillip Hinton record. He has a wonderful 'story telling' voice...and we added a music score and here it is...People love it and I'm sure you will too... Well that's my "Songs of the Garden" CD. If you love your garden or you know someone who does...it's a beautiful gift...so all I can say is please enjoy it...Lots of love Harry Hughes
