简介
A versatile singer with a rich tone, Edmonton, Alberta's own Marleigh Rouault has been performing for the past 25 years throughout Canada. “How can you top opening for Ben E. King with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra on your 30th birthday?” asks Marleigh Rouault. “Well… you debut a CD on your 40th.” After opening for Ben E. King, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra asked Marleigh to present her own full-length concert. She pulled together an incredibly dynamic show called “Musicals, Great Musicals” which included the great hits from the MGM Golden Age of movie musicals. From that concert, and many requests “do you have a CD?”, she has compiled a number of songs from that show as well as some all-time favourites. You can now hear her richly layered vocals on that debut CD “Yesterday & Today”, featuring an eclectic assortment of classic songs from the Golden Age of MGM, adult contemporary and original compositions. Some of the highlights include “Old Man River”, “I Will Play A Rhapsody” and “Used To Be” (Stevie Wonder cover tune with local artist Byron Leffler). Marleigh’s stage experience includes working with the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, Windsor Philharmonic, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (where she filled in for Michael Burgess with less than 24 hours notice), the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Edmonton’s Citadel Theatre, Kompany! and Edmonton Musical Theatre. She has also been a background singer and featured soloist on numerous CDs including her 1993 debut single “Rocky Mountain Christmas” with country singer Greg Paul, which received airplay on over 90 Canadian radio stations. Her duo group Marleigh & Mueller have played a variety of venues in Edmonton and Vancouver as well as a cruise to Alaska. “Marleigh Rouault possesses a voice of great character and warmth — and power.” D.T. Baker — The Edmonton Journal “This was an evening of fine entertainment, showcasing Rouault's strong contralto voice as well as her stunning style and energy.” Marilyn Wiwcharuk — Kamloops This Week Long-time friend and collaborator Randy Mueller — composer, music arranger, pianist extraordinaire and winner of the 1996 Sterling Award for Best Music Director — is co-producer and music arranger of Marleigh’s CD. His original songs “Senator’s Wife” and “Weather the Storm” complete this compilation and were written specifically for Marleigh.
