Awa Manneh debuted on the swedish music scene in late 2002 with the album”Sounds like me”(Sony/Columbia/KRED) and was quickly dubbed the ”R’n’B songstress” of Sweden. Awa not only sung and wrote the songs but was behind the productions of the majority of the album aswell earning her the first swedish Grammy award nomination ever given to a female.

The songs ”Hip Hop Ballad” and ”Behind Schedule” are for many of her nordic peers synonymous with that particular year . Although having made numerous collaborations in Sweden and abroad through the years the new release ”Rise & Fall”is the first solo material we’re hearing from Awa in 11 years. The song features a retro hip-hop sounding production enhanced by the voice of swedish-american rapper ”Swingfly”, known for his collaborations with super-group ”Teddybears” among others. Produced and written by Awa herself she’s staying true to form while clearly taking her sound to a new level.
