"Somos Todos Iguais Esta Noite" is a composition by legendary Brazilian composer Ivan Lins and Vitor Martins. In a homage to the great Lins, Alexandra Jackson records the song in Portuguese for her instant classic “Alexandra Jackson: Legacy & Alchemy” album with Mr. Lins himself appearing on the track -- signaling the “legacy” of the music, in a collaboration that reveals the “alchemy” that Ms. Jackson’s album represents. Recorded by producer /arranger Larry Williams in Rio de Janeiro, Williams (keyboards) leads a rhythm section that includes the great Chicago Bassist Darryl Jones, and Brazilian masters: Teo Lima (Drums), Armando Marcal (Percussion) and Ricardo Silveira (Guitar), and the top Rio de Janeiro horn section: Orquestra Atlantica. Joining Ms. Jackson on vocals is Ivan Lins, with American star vocalists Chris Walker, Darryl Tookes and Curtis King Jr. This masterfully arranged and performed track is fun, infectious, and virtuosic. The track perhaps best reveals the “LA meets Rio” Pop Jazz sensibility of the project.
