Melchizedek was the ancient king of the city Salem, meaning "peace." Melchizedek is now the solo project of composer, keyboardist, and trumpeter R.F Dunham. Peace is the defining characteristic of the music Dunham makes as Melchizedek. Under the Melchizedek name, Dunham creates minimalist compositions in real time using live looping to blend synthesizers, pianos, organs, and unique orchestral instrumentation with his digitally processed trumpet. His current project is "El," a collection of minimalist pieces designed for meditation on the Hebrew names of God using keyboards, trumpet, and a wind quartet of flute, clarinet, french horn, and tuba.
