Robert Banks, one of eight children; began singing at an early age in a Gospel Choir in a local church in Tyler, Texas. In 1980 Robert was elected Public Relations Chairperson in the organization of the Tyler Area Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. Founded by the late Rev. James Cleveland.After attending Gospel Music workshops in Cincinatti, Ohio,. Detroit, Michigan,. Atlanta, Georgia,. New York City, New York and Atlanta, Georgia. Robert decided to express his love for God and mankind through a variety of songs and types. Performing such venuses as The La Mirage Club in Tyler, Texas, and the well known Comedy Club in Dallas, Texas owned by Actor/Comedian Steve Harvey. Upon moving to Southern California in 1994, Robert worked as a building contractor. One day while painting a clients home in Los Angeles, Robert began to sing an "Oldie but Goodie" and the client came out and made the statement "man you're in the wrong business". That day, Robert began his quest to regenerate the joy of singing and entertaining. In 1997, Robert helped to organize a Rhythm and Blues Band called "Strictly Business". After performing a few gigs in the LA area, Robert decided to move on to a blues band called "TC and The Top Cats". While working to improve and to perfect his God given ability, Robert began a solo career and adopted "The Robert Banks Show". Robert opened up for blues singer Lil' Milton at the Famous BB King's Club at Universal Studios in Studio City, California and was invited back to host his own show, performing a variety of hits by artists ranging from James Ingram, Lou Rawls, Brook Benton, The Temptations, The Whispers, Little Milton, B.B. King and the late great Johnny Taylor and the late legendary Sam Cooke. In 2001, Robert released two songs entitled "Playas Game" written by Robert and Brian Banks and "Take Me Wit-Cha" written and produced by Joe Campbell at Quin Tisar Music, and recorded at Caswell Castle in Compton, California. Robert released his first album entitled "Be Careful What You Wish For" produced by the ROBERTS/BAULDEN ENTERTAINMENT GROUP on January 11, 2003 at the Prince Hall Memorial Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. In January 2003, Robert moved back to Tyler and performed another cd release August 9, 2003 at the Mayfair Building in Tyler, Texas accompanied by the local group Rufus and the Solid Soul Band. September 5, 2004, Robert was the opening act for the legendary great blues man Bobby Bland at Nico's Social Club, 220 North Glenwood in Tyler. A Word from the Principal "Mr. Banks". Love You, Robert Calandar of Events Robert, will be performing in Jacksonville, Texas at the second annual Jacksonville Music Jam, Saturday, October 6, 2007. Event is to host six live stages throughout the city from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm. The types of music and a schedule for each stage will be in printed form the day of the festival. BYO Chair.
