Ever since I've been a kid, music has made a big beat in my heart. Grew up writing music, playing piano, teaching myself guitar. It was all good and fun until I found that I was making music for all the wrong reasons. Ack. I had started to use the compliments I was getting to fill a void, but it had gotten out of hand - to the point where I knew I had to quit music altogether. Around 2011 I hung up the guitar, and I didn't touch a piano for many months, turning my creative energy to photography and video production. I knew that my current idea of my music needed to die and start new, but didn't know why or how it would happen... So here's to a new chapter. I share my music because I want to share that same feeling the music gives me. If I can use my talent and put a smile on your face, encourage you or help you relax, I'm all in. Here's one quote from Steven Pressfield that helped me see creativity differently: "Krishna instructed Arjuna: 'We have a right to our labor, but not to the fruits of our labor.' What did he mean by that? He meant that the process is its own reward. The only real reward." So it's about the journey, not the outcome. My focus is on creating, and once I share it, I'm going to try so so hard to just work on the next song and not dwell on the last. Here's to freedom. Freedom from fear of rejection.
