January 2015 saw the birth of the Soundspace label and over the past year we put out seven cuts that included tracks from CutOff!CutOff!, JC Williams and Peter Gibney. For our first edition of the 2016 calendar year we see three familiar faces, with Fion, KoJam and Black Girl / White Girl all returning for SSR008, a remix player of Fions original SSR004 Fires EP. Kicking things off is Amsterdam based two-piece Black Girl / White Girl, taking their tools to Fions Fires. The girls serve a dusked production in their usual kick driven style of tech house, pitching the vocals and layering uplifting dance pianos they turn Fions nu-age funk into a somewhat nostalgic banger. The second, and final track on the player welcomes a swift return for Belfast duo KoJam, who having impressed with their remix of JammHots Lion Tamer for SSR007, we couldnt resist bringing them in for this one. KoJam bring their favoured laid-back approach, keeping much of the original funk edge, while slipping in a generous serving of loose tech heavy percussion and Belfast finesse.
