Lisa “1SingingLady” Gilliam has been singing and writing since the age of 7. While majoring in Speech and Drama with a minor in vocal music performance at Virginia Union University, she began her professional career as a lead and background vocalist singing at events on and off campus. She continued her education earning a Master of Arts degree in Education and Human Development with a concentration in Community Counseling from The George Washington University. A few years later Lisa released her first spoken-word/gospel music cd, entitled Past to Present. Since that time, Lisa has had the opportunity to work as a radio show host/co-host, booking agent, event coordinator/planner, vocal coach, songwriter, poet, spoken-word artist and share the stage as a lead and background vocalist for and with numerous national and local recording artists. She strives to use the performance, literary, and communication arts to uplift, encourage, and enhance the lives of people who have been emotionally or physically hurt and is known for the manner in which she integrates her artistic talents when she counsels and educates others. Thus, whether Lisa is singing, reciting poetry/spoken-word, acting or speaking/presenting at a conference, seminar or workshop, she wants her words to be melodic...like music to your ears!
