Formed in late 2008, Two Worlds is a latin inspired jazz collaboration between some of the best musicians on the East Coast. Their original compositions make them stand out from many other groups of the same genre, combining melodic lines with sophisticated jazz harmony and danceable latin grooves from Brazil, Africa and Cuba. 'Stream of Stars', they're debut release, perfectly captures on record the sounds and moods created by the ensemble when they perform live. Typical for jazz musicians, they recorded the album live with extremely few edits or overdubs. All of the tunes on the record except for "Beijo Partido", by the famed Brazilian guitarist Toninho Horta, are originals. The members of Two Worlds are some of the most proficient, inspired and experienced improvising musicians playing today. Pianist Michael Shea is literally an underground Jazz legend. He has played with virtually every musician you can name that has lived in or come through the Eastern United States. He has also done extensive touring with a number of artists including Artie Shaw. Drummer Rodrigo Bonelli is one of the most dynamic young drummers on the scene today. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he came to the U.S. in '01 and since then has been working steadily, playing with a variety of different acts in various styles of music. Electric Bassist Jeffrey McAuliffe arrived in New York from New Orleans, LA in '01 and has been methodically carving out his niche on the scene. Having previously studied upright bass under Ellis Marsalis at the University of New Orleans, he has made it his goal to make the Fretless Bass Guitar a legitimate instrument in jazz music again. He and Rodrigo have worked together steadily for the past three years in a variety of different settings and come together to form a powerful, elastic rhythm section. Tenor Saxophonist/Flautist Matt Clauhs hails from Pennsylvania. He is known as a superb technician on both instruments and for his ability to sightread and play anything, sounding completely relaxed and comfortable even on the first read through.
