简介
This album is based on Dama Orchestra’s award winning music-theatre production “Fragrance Of The Night.” That showcase won Dama Orchestra the Cameronian Award 2002 for the best Malaysian music ensemble performance. The songs selected for this album are popular Mandarin and Japanese songs performed by one of yesteryears’ singing legends, Li Xiang Lan – the voice behind the immensely popular hit song “Ye Lai Xiang.” Despite being a Japanese, Li had stemmed her mark as a formidable songstress during the shi dai qu period – the 1930s-1960s period when popular mandarin tunes ruled the Chinese broadcasting, recording and film world. In this recording project, the beautiful vocal is provided by one of Malaysia’s leading sopranos singer, Tan Soo Suan. This is her debut solo album. Our thanks to Ken Takiguchi (Assistant Director, The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur) and Tan Kean Cheaw for their assistance with Japanese enunciations, and to you for checking our album out. Pleasant listening. DAMA ORCHESTRA
