Nicolas & the Iceni Biography Nicolas and the Iceni are a British Progressive Folk band founded in 2007 by Singer/Songwriter Nic Chapman, bringing together classical and folk musicians. Nigel Barrow (Cello) Victoria Martin (Flute) and Iain Taylor (Bodhran) complete the line-up. The music is inspired by the poetry of Dylan Thomas, T.S. Elliot, and William Blake and the music of the 1960’s folk revival movement: Sandy Denny, Incredible String Band, Nick Drake, Davy Graham, Bert Janch, Anne Briggs and classical composers Goreki, Richard Strauss, and Chopin. They completed their debut album Narrow Road to the Deep North in October 2010 and released it in early 2011 on Holyground Records. They were the first signing on Holyground Records’ Progression Series (HG139). Holyground Records is Britain’s first independent record label and it's most collecatble (Vox Magazine). Set up In 1966 by Mike Levon and Dave Wood. The band are currently writing their second album, Beneath the Hungry Trees.
