简介
After years of playing with jazz and R&B bands on the East Coast as well as fronting a band in a jazz series that included many of Boston's jazz luminaries, Mark headed to the West Coast. Inspired by the eclectic sounds of the SF bay area, he sought to integrate elements of jazz with the rhythms of Pop, Latin and R&B music. This, along with some compositional ideas that he's been incubating over the years, lead to the music on this CD. The album also reflects Mark's love of musical contrasts, hence the album's name. In Mark's words, "I've always liked the way contrasting musical pieces can set each other off in interesting ways. Nothing defines a ballad better than having an up-tempo number precede it, and of course, vice versa".
