Pakhi was born in India from a family of musicians Baul Since childhood he has started studying Sri Khol with his father, musician and percussion teacher. During the years, he has perfected the musical technique studying with other master’s of the Indian popular music and singing. He has had Baul music concerts and directed percussion workshop in Italy, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Venezuela and Mexico. He collaborates whit some Italian folk music group. Kalipada was, like an instrumental coordinator, to the workshops of music therapy lead from Corrado Cannas (music Therapist given a degree to the School of "Limbs Expressive Therapies and Psychotherapies" - NGO) in the schools and in the “Mental health Centers” for ten years BAUL OF BENGAL The Baul are mystic, wandering mastersingers and musicians of the Bengal and they embody one of the most ancient traditions of the Indian. Probably “Baul” comes from Sanskrit “Vayu” meaning “Wind” and such as the wind moves on earth never being still, so the Baul wander from village to village such as a foolish “Batul”, dancing on ecstasy and singing joy and love coming from the mystic union with Divine. Their philosophy, born from different religious expressions such as Tantrism, Buddhism, Sufism, Vaishnavism, puts man at the very centre of universe. The Baul consider human body as the sacred dwelling of Absolute which can be reached only through a continuos interior search bringing to discover of the Man living inside man, the Divine which dwells in man, “Maner Manush”, the Man of heart. Mankind is sacred, so Baul profess universal brotherhood and refuse every difference of races, casts, religions, living free and detached from material things. The music of Baul expresses the inner joy, the happiness of love spreading from oneself through old gesture and moving melodies arousing a pure and absolute meeting of hearts.
