简介
This record started in 2004 when I [Brandon] was 18 years old. I was kicked out of my house for a terrible collection of events having everything to do with being a punk 18 year old kid. So in my then homeless state, I moved into an old friend of mine, we will call him JM, I moved into JM's walk-in closet. In an apartment, in Simi Valley. With 3 others. i stayed in this closet space. Until I was approached by my female roommate [who Organized Chaos is written about] in an abrupt manner, while her boyfriend still lived in her room, making moves on me. I felt terribly uncomfortable and told her that she needed to leave the live-in man in order to be with me, which she promptly did. I should've taken that as a red flag, but I was young, and stupider than I am now, so it didn't bother me. On my 19th birthday, sh*t hit the fan, cops were called, all around bad night. I wrote STONES THROW during that whole period too. When we got evicted from that apartment [thank goodness my name wasn't on the lease] I moved back to my mom's house and started dating KP [whom the song KELLY is written] who I had met via myspace.com. I played in a band called Eleven Penny Life while dating KP. [XIPL is about that band] Eleven Penny Life is where Ian and I were first introduced, something to the effect of "he was a charming saxophonist, and I was but a young songwriter for ska music" it just fit, so we started making music together. I brought Tristan into Maxwell and Eleven Penny Life, before he played bass, he Graduated CSUN with a Trombone Performance Degree [He wrote the horn part for HUNGRY]. Eduardo and I have gone WAY back about 10 years ago, meeting when I was but a pup at White Sands surf shop where we met via a mutual now drug addicted friend Moe [who DISCOVERED is about]. I tried out for his band 3 times and was denied every time, because at that time he was the best drummer I knew, I kinda had no other choice than to try to impress upon him my conscious drive and passion to play how I want to play, and do it the way I want to do it. Eventually I wore him down and came to him with a collection of songs I'd written while living with Zac Solomon of Eleven Penny Life, and we turned some of those songs into our MAXWELL SMART EP[2007]. Some of those songs were a collective effort between the members of Maxwell Smart, just being able to work with each other musically. He dug the songs, so we brought together a collection of musicians we all knew. Tristan brought in Pedro Ramirez, a stellar Trombone player and a great mind, but a horrible driver. Eduardo brought in Stephen Burrell, who was enthusiastic and has a killer range. Finally I brought in Ian and Tristan from Eleven Penny Life. Then Stephen and the band parted ways and we acquired yet another of Tristan's friends, Eddie Martinez. He plays with us at the present. Also, please note that the songs BEW, and STICKY SITUATIONS, were composed by Eduardo Lizarraga, with lyrics by me. The horn part from INSTRUMENTAL was written by the Maxwell Smart Horns Section, and Eduardo Lizarraga. We would like to thank you in advance for buying our record. I know you'll love it.
