The track "First Take" and the album title "First Take" come from the idea of just playing something once and keeping it the way it was first expressed. Much of the album is a documentation of the creative process. While Some of the tracks were premeditated and rehearsed , most of the album is actually the "first take" and even the actual creative process. After playing the piano track this way I would then come back and lay down the other instruments as needed. I play all of the instruments myself except for for a few tracks where I get a little help from a great jazz drummer (Tony Miller), and an incredible guitarist (Barry Bynum).
