Ridic (short for Ridiculous Lyrics) was born and raised in Oakland, CA. Although from the bay area, his background of diverse musical influences has inspired him to create a unique sound, different than most local artists. He grew up listening to rap music from several regions due to his considerably older brother and sister who were engulfed in hip-hop culture. His mother and father listened to Jazz, Blues, R&B, Soul, and Funk so there were several other types of music in the household. Through all of these influences, Ridic has become a hip-hop lyricist that focuses on multiple syllable rhymes, constant use of metaphors and similes, and raps consistently on topic. Along with a desire to write quality, well thought out lyrics, he is also meticulous in his production of hip-hop and R&B beats with his production team, Pro Official Productions. Ridic’s first album, No Apologies, charted at #13 on the College Music Journal (CMJ) with his double single, No Apologies and Priceless, reaching #3 on the singles charts of Rapnetwork and Rapattacklives. The vinyl release of his singles had world wide record pool distribution and charting along with some commercial radio spins. His singles have appeared on compilation CD’s in Japan as well as compilations with Styles P and DJ Quik to name a few. Ridic’s current single, Catch 22, is produced by Ridic and his production team, Pro Official Productions. He gives an example of a real life catch 22 or one of life’s contradictions in every line. Ridic’s second single, Always in My Prime featuring Kool G Rap, has a classic hip-hop sound. Ridic was honored to work with such a respected lyricist and all time great emcee. Always in My Prime is also produced by Ridic and his production team. Pro Official Productions, initially started with his brother, Case, has a growing team of producers that are constantly working to create a new sound with a wide variety of styles. Recently Pro Official Productions has had beats accepted by Maybach Music Group, Busta Rhymes, Nicki Minaj, T-boz, Gorilla Zoe, Shyne Po, Vado, Kool G Rap, Honey Coc*ine, R.O.D. Project, and Jimmie Reign for consideration on future projects.
