简介
"A combination of earth and air, soulful female vocals call to your Spirit while the American feel of the pedal steel brings you back to earth, speaking to every dream you have ever had of exploring the wild unknown. The spacious electric guitar is carried by a deep rhythm section and you notice that both your soul and your body are being invoked, being moved. Every harmony answering your call, and every beat posing a question. The Wild Hymns truly belong to the wild.” - Tifani Truelove (tifanitruelove.com) Modern Folk with touches of jazz, blues, Americana and ambient/improvisational rock and roll. The Wild Hymns are the songs of Megan Woodland Donley and the name of her band with her husband, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, Jeff Hewitt. The music of The Wild Hymns is a mix of melodically-enchanting Modern folk and Americana with touches of Gypsy Jazz, world, gospel, rock and ambient/improvisational music. The lyrics and musical compositions/improvisations of The Wild Hymns are greatly influenced by personal and universal love, nature, mysticism and the exploration of emotion and what it means to be human. They are reclaiming the word “hymn”, releasing it from the sometimes limiting beliefs of the church and giving it a new meaning as a song of praise to the natural world, the raw and wild human spirit, and universal/cosmic love.
