"The Lord is a Fortress" was written to be sung by our church while we were going through a sermon series focused on the Psalms. Grace Bible Church is located near one of the world's largest military bases, and serves a population largely consisting of professional warriors. Chris was fascinated by the Psalmist's description of God as a warrior, and wanted to capture that language in a song for gathered worship. The more we face the violent strength of the forces of evil, the more we recognize our need for a God who is stronger— able to defeat anything and everything that is pitted against Him.
