"This is the real thing: in an age of digitally enhanced this and cyberspace that, the sound of three fine musicians playing some beautiful swinging music together. Check it out...put this on after a hard day, and watch your troubles evaporate!" Matt Glaser, Berklee College of Music Romantic swing, mood setting music featuring jazz violin, acoustic rhythm guitar, and the deep pulse of a string bass in a live setting. Steaming vocals and sizzling love songs. This is some of the best "chamber swing" you'll ever hear. Scott Foster and his '48 Gibson L5C have been a fixture of the swing jazz scenes on both coasts, large bands and small. A veteran of several jazz orchestras in Washington DC and San Diego, Scott has a reputation for anchoring swing ensembles with rock-sold rhythm and occasionally can be coaxed into contributions of smoky vocals from his broad repertoire. James Mason's mastery of jazz, swing, and country violin styles has put him squarely at the forefront of the Pacific Northwest music scene. Now, as a master interpreter of the Great American Songbook, James brings a thrilling and fresh sound to the standards of jazz. Although careful listeners can hear his homage to such violin greats as Joe Venuti, Stuff Smith, and Stephane Grappelli, James never fails to thrill and delight with his unique phrasing and remarkable timing in performing the great tunes of the twentieth century. Rob Thorsen is, without a doubt, the busiest jazz bassist in Southern California. Starting out in San Francisco playing street bands in the '70s, Rob moved to San Diego in 1990 and has developed a reputation as the man to call when you need the very best. A friendly, affable addition to any ensemble, Rob enjoys a broad base of appreciative fellow musicians who know the value of brilliant musicianship combined with the uncanny sense of just the right addition to any jazz arrangement. A regular with the Gilbert Castellanos Quartet, Rob also anchors his own band frequently in the San Diego jazz scene.
