简介
Danny Shamess is a Sudbury, Ontario-based musician who has been singing and playing guitar, piano, organ, bass guitar, and percussive instruments for more than ten years. Born in the small town of Elliot Lake, Ontario, Shamess began taking piano lessons at a young age. "I got sick of it," Shamess recalls. "I think I stuck with it for six months. From that point on, I played solely by ear. It wasn't much longer after that that I picked up the guitar. It came naturally to me - within a few months, I remember being able to name the notes and chords of songs on the radio." Danny has been recording music for more than five years, even releasing his own solo track-over-track album from his home-studio in August, 2010. "I think it's funny listening back to that CD," he confesses, "It was recorded mostly in the middle of the night by a kid much too afraid to wake up his parents at 3AM." After a quick laugh, he continued: "It was a great learning experience, however. I did learn a lot about recording, equipment, and my own music." With influences spanning from blues to jazz, classic rock to folk music, Danny has spent the last two years playing music in the acoustic duo Arrested Acoustic, playing top-40 hits from the 1960's to the present day. "It's always fun playing familiar songs to a new group of people. Our focus, when we created our setlist, was to ensure that everyone in the audience, regardless of their age, knows some of the songs we play." Operating a small studio, ideal for singer/songwriter applications, Danny has recorded and mixed countless tracks. "I've slowly built my own studio. It's been quite a fun process, however it does take a lot of time and energy. I do have to admit, I have bad G.A.S. - Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Laughs. If I've learned anything over the past couple of years it's that getting rid of gear is a lot more difficult than buying it is!" Lately, Shamess has been hard at work on his latest solo project, but also performing in and out of Sudbury with various artists. "I've been playing keyboards and organs with a local Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band; I also play occasional shows with other local artists." As his new album is coming together bit by bit, Shamess says he's getting more and more anxious to release it. "It's an exciting process that is somehow coming together. I've never been so passionate about writing and recording."
