简介
At first look and further listen it's evident that the lyrically clever and vividly metallic power trio CHUNK distinguish themselves not only with their down tuning and sonically fat sound, but also with their collaborative songwriting expertise, their passionate performing and their unusual take on the three piece configuration with their dual lead vocalists. Aaron Langier, (bass), Jay Chamulke, (guitar), and Troy Rosing, (drums), combine production and tight performance born of intense rehearsal on Slightly Different, CHUNK'S major label debut on Shoreline/EMI. Radio ready and TV trim; the 11 songs on Slightly Different were produced by Phil Anderson of Edmonton's Powersound Studio (Social Code, The Models, Nick Blagona, Jeff Martin (Tea Party) and mixed by Richard Chycki (Mick Jagger, P. Diddy, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Pink, Sean Paul, Our Lady Peace, Tom Cochrane). Over the last seven years CHUNK has thrived on the evolution of the creative song writing process and has learned the secret of easy collaboration by writing and playing with comfort and conviction in pursuit of their common goals. Many years ago it took the trio a week and all of their resources to create their first record - Egg in an Ashtray. The songs were outstanding but the band felt they could do better sonically. Local media were supportive and their live shows generated an avid fan base not so much by redefining the metal genre as much as refining it dynamically and with their signature humor. CHUNK entered a local competition for free recording time. They didn't win but Powersound Studio owner Phil Anderson called to say he wanted to record them anyway. They flew in some high quality gear and laid down encouraging demo tracks. The new songs were more polished and the production was much more professional. Phil mixed the record and Blagona (Tea Party, Cat Stevens, The Police, Bee Gees, Goo Goo Dolls, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Sloan) mastered it at Metalworks Studio in Mississauga. After seeing the group at a Canadian Music Week showcase in Toronto, Shoreline Records' Randy Wells signed the band and returned them to the studio to tweak a few things before bringing Chycki in to remix the disc. A cluttered pre-Christmas release schedule afforded the label the opportunity to defer Slightly Different's debut, complete CHUNK'S first video and double rehearsal efforts in preparation for more Canadian shows and a February 11 showcase for American labels at New York City's Don Hill's Club, 511 Greenwich Street. CHUNK - Slightly Different Distributed by Shoreline/Maple/Universal Music Canada Recorded at Powersound Studio, Edmonton, Canada. Produced by Phil Anderson. Mixed by Richard Chycki (www.mixland.ca).
