Canadian singer-songwriter, band leader and multi-instrumentalist Steve Goldberger, a former RCA recording artist with 70’s band Black Creek, has launched his 7th indie CD, through Shed Records. Steve hits the mark with some new original songs, and his “variations” of songs by some of his favourite songwriters. This album follows the route of his previous endeavours, crossing over from folk to country, good old rock and roll, blues, pop and tribal rhythms. "After listening to your fine release completely, I've got to let it go... onto our new releases racks today. Nice job in the studio recording all those tracks, sounds like you took your time. Great production all around, and some really fine session players included. Love the range of instrumentation!" -- Ron Burd, Music Director CIUT-FM Radio Toronto "Without a doubt, The Goldberger Variations is your best work to date, a true milestone in the long and winding road of your musical career. Keep on rockin' me baby... -B. Steeves, St. Catharines, Ontario "I just finished listening to it with my headphones on. It sounds wonderful......what a great production and the performances are superb from all. I love all the tunes and their arrangements....but the one that stuck out as my fav is "Lifetime". What a great tune. Hey has anyone ever said you have a wee bit of a Rundgren thing with your voice?..... " - Cam MacIness - Toronto "I'll be playing "Five in the Morning" on-air at CKCU 93.1 FM at...5 in the morning (!) this Monday " - Diane Wells, (a.k.a. D.D. Rocker/Misty Blue 1955) "Rockin' the Blues from Canada" "I'm up to song 8 on the Variations, which I play at my desk. To my ear this CD has the best vocalizations balance yet. Love that you used a Willie P. tune. I saw him numerous times in TO with the Whitely brothers. Anyway, there are nuanced tonal blends in the album derived I am sure from being an old(er) experienced guy. Congratulations." - R. Hillier, Niagara-on-the-Lake Track 1: STAY YOUNG (Gallagher & Lyle) (Roots/Folk/Pop) Lyrics with a message combine with rockin’ rhythms Track 2: NOT ANOTHER SONG ABOUT THE RAIN (Bill Colgate*) (Singer/songwriter style with ending that rocks out) A fantastic song by one of Canada‘s finest songwriters . Track 3: WEIRD TO YOU (Blair Packham/Arlene Bishop*) (Folk/Pop) Another cool tune by great Canadian song writers. Track 4: LIFETIME (Andrew MacKay*) (Pop - A la Coldplay) A heartfelt pop song by one of Canada’s new young breed of songwriters Track 5: SALT CREEK (Traditional) (Bluegrass) A tune that Willie P. Bennett taught Steve back in the 70’s Track 6: LACE AND PRETTY FLOWERS (Willie P. Bennett*) (Folk/Singer-songwriter) Canada’s late great Willie P. showed Steve this one too. Track 7: GOD ONLY KNOWS (Wilson/Asher) (Latin/Pop) A great old Beach Boys tune with a Latin twist Track 8: AIN’T LIVING LONG LIKE THIS (Rodney Crowell) (Country Cajun Rock) A rocking little number with some Cajun flavour Track 9: GHOST IN THIS HOUSE (Hugh Prestwood) (Country) A sweet and tender love ballad. Track 10: ALL I NEED (MacKay/ Goldberger*) (Pop/Folk) A love song. Track 11: FIVE IN THE MORNING (Ingrassia/Goldberger*) (Folk) A moody little piece. Track 12: THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN’ (Bob Dylan) (Folk-rock) A timeless message Track 13: TWILIGHT (J.R. For all that, an infectious good humour and energetic teamwork lend this record, GUMBO DREAMS, genuine appeal." - Greg Quill, Toronto Star "Steve Goldberger's subversive THE NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE RHYTHM PROJECT ... the sounds on this disc are beautiful free flowing instrumental illustrations of life in tourist heaven...A mash up of folk, soft rock and jazz combined in the aesthetic of a jam band... get your hands on this disc and wrap your head around the sounds." - Pulse Niagara "You bastard! What a wonderful CD. ..it sounds great. It is so freakin' musical. It is no mean feat to be as prolific as you are and as good as you are. Serious congratulations Steve. You should be very proud. I have now placed it in heavy rotation." - Bill Colgate, Toronto "I put on Clueless, and I was blown away. That is one high quality, well-crafted collection of tunes.
