Founded in 2008 by singer/songwriter C.J. Stayton the band that became Riders Ford went through several members in the early stages trying to find the right mix of talented, hell-raising musicians. The band spent 2009 exploring the honky-tonks and festivals of their native Oklahoma and developing their own unique musical voice. Their sound has been favorably described as an amalgamation of the rocking guitars of Ragweed, the layered musicality of Randy Rogers Band and the textured songwriting of Steve Earle. "My favorite compliments always start like this: I don't even like country music, but you guys..." laughs Stayton. During this period the band released a 4 song EP, "Done Me Wrongs & Party Songs" that contained their first original songs. The demo gave the world a rough preview of potential of this rockin' red dirt group. In the winter of 2009, the band took time off from performing to record their first album. “It was a completely self-produced, self-recorded labor of love,” remembers front man Stayton. The resultant "We Rage On" was released in April of 2010. The album displayed the breadth of songwriting and musicality that the fans of red dirt country demand and received unsolicited grass roots support from Midwestern radio stations. 2013 saw Riders Ford complete it's first full studio album. While still entirely self-produced the band sought out Greg Pearce of Flatland Recording Studios in Stillwater, OK to help put together their latest album "Shot in the Dark". Mastered in Nashville, TN at Yes, Master Studios, "Shot in the Dark" represents the bands all or nothing attitude to make their mark in the world of independent country music. The album's first release "This Ain't a Song" (Jan 2014) debuted in the Top 100 of the Texas Regional Radio Report. Big things are expected out of this little band from Oklahoma.
