简介
Following the success of its debut CD--AMERICA: TRIO PLAYS THE MUSIC OF PAUL SIMON--the San Francisco Bay Area piano-bass-drums trio (simply called TRIO) surveys America's musical landscape beginning with Stephen Foster Collins, and progressing through Aaron Copland; the Tin Pan Alley composers (Gershwin, Kern, Berlin); the Broadway masters (Richard Rodgers, Leonard Bernstein); jazz great Thelonious Monk; and prolific Stevie Wonder. The centerpiece of the project is the 6 minute radio play OL' MAN RIVER (a deconstruction of the U.S. racial past), the haunting Stephen Foster Collins ballad ("Hard Times come Again No More") featuring singer Catherine Seidel, concluding with the triumphant FANFARE FOR THE COMMON MAN and TRIO's original piece, "Hoedown."
