Marcus Bodenmann lives in Zurich, Switzerland. He works as a pianist and keyboard player with various bands and teaches piano, keyboards and production. Pop, Rock, Country and Jazz is his native tongue. With "New Life" he published his first solo album. It contains seven original compositions for piano and is completely self-produced. The musical and technical background allows Marcus to realize a high level production and to take the time that it needs to keep a complete and well thought out album in hand. The result is a very personal journey through the last three years of his musical creativity. The piano pieces are a musical mirror, which reflects many changes in the past three years and the beginning of a new life. The pieces are written and arranged in the classical sense, but make use of the tradition of New Age, Minimal Music and Modern Film Music. Nevertheless, the musical background of the composer create a sound and expression that can be clearly assigned to Pop Music. Repeating accompaniment patterns in the left hand carry the catchy melodies and often you can hear a kind of song structure with verses and choruses. Tasty and sparsely used underpainting by subtle synthesizer pads and a soulful cello raise the sound in another dimension. You are invited to close your eyes and enjoy the theater of the mind.
