简介

Brian Bonz hails from the windy sections of Brooklyn, NY. Sunday Theory, his first EP, documents a period of his life when he started writing original material after drumming for various bands. Songs such as "Sex Parade" and "Mariposa Street" combine Bonz's unique lyricism, along with innovative arrangements. Live, he uses a Line 6 loop-sampler for layered percussion and for an odd array of effects, providing for quite an interesting show. Due to relentless touring, Bonz began developing an extensive catalogue of songs, and, along with recent collaborater Tom Pitilli, began recording what is now his second EP, Susan The Boy Scout. Pushing the envelope sonically, Bonz and Pitilli experimented with keyboards, samples, and atmosphere, resulting in a riveting collection of songs that demand multiple listenings. From the distorted bass drone of "A Season of Handshakes", to the multi-layered vocals on the album's closer, "Blue-eyed Brazil", Bonz continues to venture out into new and exciting musical territories. In the fall of 2003, Bonz and Pitilli immediately joined Brooklyn's own Electric Frog Recordings. Armed with beat-up televisions and a violin bow, and unweathered from performing consistent live shows at such places like CBGB's 313, Southpaw, Pianos, Vicious at Rothko, The Downtown, Mercruy Lounge, Northsix, and Sin-e, Bonz continues to tour. In November of 2003, all three (the Starside Eight, Netpune Walk, and Bonz) acts have played to a sold-out crowd at NY's beloved Old Office at the Knitting Factory in support of Susan The Boyscout. In summer of 2004, he did a 17 date US tour with label-mate "Happy To Be Here". This past fall he has shared the stage with acts like the Winter Blanket, Via Audio, Hail Social, Pablo, Travis Morrison (ex the Dismemberment Plan), The Beauty Pill, Surefire, Kevin Devine, Apollo Sunshine, Owen, the Snake/The Crown/ The Cross, Decibully, and good friends Joan of Arc (Cap N' Jazz, Owen, Owls). Keep an eye an out for Brian Bonz at a club near you offering warm sonic music to hold onto.
