In July of 1999, at the end of a tour of Sweden, I took a bus to a bus to a plane to a bus to a boat, to see a friend in Copenhagen. We spent 24 hours together, after which, I had to return to New York City. I promised my friend a solo recording, some music to remember me by. This is that recording. I sat down in my apartment, pressed record and proceeded to create a love letter. In the Positive River Stream, I came up with twelve new themes. After recording the piano, I overdubbed keyboards, drum loops, percussion, and the shower wherever I “heard” them appropriately. In the middle of the recording, my friend called me from Copenhagen and we sang the title cut, “Drinkin’ Wine With Pauli,” live across five thousand miles via the telephone. When I was finished with this recording I sent it to my friend, Sos. I was so pleased with how it turned out I asked her permission to share it with the world. Permission granted . . . here are my songs of love for the world to enjoy!
