Indisputably, Iyso has a style that is uniquely his own. Born Dail Smith in Philadelphia, Iyso was raised in a Christ-centered home. At the tender age of 14, Iyso began to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ for himself, recognizing his sin and need for salvation. At 18, Iyso became more involved in his church ministry by attending bible study and ushering regularly. During this time he developed a heart for the lost, and was no longer content with mediocre Christianity. He yearned for more. He desired to do more. As Iyso’s desire to do more grew, so did his desire to share the Gospel with others. Music became Iyso’s outlet to reach the world and share the good news in his own way. Ultimately, Iyso's prayer was, and still is, is that the world would come to know Christ and believe: Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were STILL SINNERS, Christ died for us.” With hardwork, dedication and trust in God, Iyso has become popular in the tri-state area. Iyso's passionate, no-nonsense, raw performances mixed with his relateable testimony has made him popular amongst youth and young adults. Iyso blesses God for the opportunity to serve in ministry. He is humbled as well as grateful that God would use him for the purpose of making Jesus Christ known to others. Just like Jesus, Iyso is zealous about “seeking and saving the lost,” Luke 10:19. He looks forward to God expanding his ministry outside of the four walls of the church and into the places others may not be willing to go. “Don’t see me, but Christ through me,” is Iyso's continual plea to those who witness his ministry. He understands that we live for one single purpose, and that is to glorify our creator and Lord Jesus Christ.
