简介
" The Gap in the Fence" is Leslie Vogel's second solo album. Her enchanting original songs take us on various rhythmic adventures--from an early morning gallop to picking blueberries under the sun, from a cheerful song about breakfast in the frying pan to a lyrical ballad of a child growing up. Some of the tunes and songs inspire random dancing in the kitchen, and the lullaby "Where Did You Come From" brings us full circle to a love of nature and the planet Earth on which we live. Leslie plays a variety of instruments and is joined here by several excellent musicians who add their special touches to the soundscape. Each of her songs is dedicated to a person or group in a wide embrace of her family and community; and the warm vocals and lovely acoustic ensemble melodies and rhythms reach out to children, families, and people of all ages. Leslie is the founder and director of the Youth and Community Fiddle Orchestra, which has played at many local festivals and events and which currently brings live music to accompany Youth Circus performances in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire. She is also the director of the Ensemble For a New Planet; musicians from these two groups are featured on this album. She is the co-founder, with her husband Fred Simmons, of three bands: Tattoo--an American Roots dance band; the Folksoul Band--a Mardi Gras / New Orleans style band; and the Folksoul Ensemble---a quartet that features American Roots music, Folk and Early Jazz. Leslie Vogel and Fred Simmons also host the Folksoul Acoustic Music Festival each summer at their outdoor stage and meadow at their home in Greenfield NH on the third Sunday in August .
