As a little girl, Blue Kid would spend hours singing in the playground, the bathtub, the backyard and the classroom. At age 12, she wrote her first song on the family piano and she has never looked back. It’s only natural; after all, Blue Kid’s parents were opera singers. At 18, she left the family-nest to attend Northwestern University, where she graduated with a degree in theatre. During her time in college, she set aside song-writing and focused primarily on acting. However, something felt off. While touring with a small musical production, Blue Kid stumbled into a practice room at a local venue, sat down at the piano and felt everything come flooding back. Consequently, she left theatre behind and blew her savings on a piano when the itch to make her own music came along. Blue Kid’s sound is an innovative synthesis of pop, jazz and a little rock with lyrics that tickle and melodies that move.
