From Boston to Cuba, from New York to Vancouver, this accomplished riddim-keeper has moved effortlessly from the sidelines into the production chair, and has honed all the skills needed to work his magic on both the skins and the bass bins. With this 12 offering, Myles brings the traditions of Cuban and African rhythms bang up to the 21st century, with a selection of 4 tracks that range from acid latin funk to head-nodding sould in the space of a couple of grooves. But this release isnt just about the producer featuring four different vocalists from Vancouver, its a focus on the soulful club underground that runs through this rich cultural city. Opening track Simplicity featuring folk bombshell ASHLEIGH BALL kicks proceeding off with a statement of intent simple, honest, dancefloor business with soul, translating Myles fiery skills on the congas straight to your feet. Following on the A side is the future-reggaeton beat of Talk to Me featuring CHI TURNER, with plenty of analogue synth noises and a riddim thats made for romance! Flip the disc over, and we get two poles of the soul spectrum, Shes Making me High takes the classic influences of Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock, and transforms it into a modern day scorcher featuring the hook-laden vocals of COLIN POMBO ladies look out! Soul Headbangah on the other hand gets all futuristic on your a** and brings a slumped robot of a beat, all filtered chords and lurching bass, while AMALIA TOWNSEND brings the sweet vocal harmonies and RUSS KLYNE jumps from K-OS group to bring some guitar heat.
