简介
Jagger's approach to Rock n' Roll is one of raw emotion, embracing the essentials of Pop, Rhythm and Blues, and Roots Rock performed from the gut with a "Garage" attitude. Although the four members of Jagger all share the same Grass Roots principles, they hail from various backgrounds and musical influences. Jagger was literally conceived in a garage in the home of guitarist and vocalist Dave Drapen, a Washington D.C. native who at the age of 18 established himself as one of the hottest DC guitar players in the rock band Ice 9. After playing a gig in NYC at CBGB's, he decided to stay in Manhattan and a year later began playing guitar and writing with RCA recording artist Pierce Turner and the Legendary Buddy Erkin. After 7 years as a songwriter and performer in NYC, Dave was offered a publishing deal in Nashville; so he packed up his bags and moved to Tennessee. He spent 3 years there writing and performing as a singer/songwriter in the Bluebird Café Circuit. Tired of the formulaic Nashville scene, Dave decided to go back to his Rock Roots and headed for Austin where he once again picked up his electric guitar and formed the now defunct band The Jimmies. It was in the "Musician's Haven" of his South Austin neighborhood that Dave met Erik Larson. After a couple of years of hanging out, free style-jamming, and drinking mass quantities of Jagermeister, the two made a commitment to take their camaraderie and musical compatibility to the next level, leaving behind all other projects to focus on their new project Jagger, actually taken from a variation of the smooth, yet potent beverage Jagermeister. Guitarist and vocalist Erik Larson blasted out of El Paso, Texas in 1986 with his band The Colours (after intense technical/theory guitar study with renounced guitarist Dan Lambert), hit Austin, and reformed as "Johnny Law". Johnny Law was signed to Warner/Metal Blade and quickly put out an album produced by Brendan O'Brian (Black Crowes, Pearl Jam). The album charted in England and features two songs on the Freddy's Dead Nightmare on Elm Street VI Movie Soundtrack. Drummer Mark Wofford hails from El Paso, Texas where he played in numerous bands, including an early version of Johnny Law with Erik Larson. After six months at the Betty Ford Clinic (as a counselor?), he was forced to sell his small chain of liquor stores and spent the following eight years in the Peace Corps. He and Erik once again crossed paths at their 10 year high school reunion where he was asked to join Jagger. After meeting with his advisors and parole officer, he said "why not?" Mark also likes to refer to himself in the third person. Bassist Colonel Josh has yet to sit down and reflect on his life so far. Please check back. These savvy musicians come from the "old school" philosophy of Rock with a conviction in the belief that once the costumes, props, and trends are stripped away from music, it's the diversity, passion, and raw talent that will be remembered in the end.
