简介
SPANKBABY was established when, in a rented rehearsal hall space in Hollywood, a multi-cultural group of young and musically gifted individuals began experimenting. What resulted was something that should have come as to no surprise, given that the diversity of their cultural background ranges from Japan to Los Angeles to New Orleans. SPANKBABY's music is a blend of the raw energy of the early Chili Peppers thanks to drummer Nori Kitagawa and bassist Gary Glass, the vivid colors of Jane's Addiction's angst contributed by guitarist Luka Escalera and a passionate and dramatic lead Johnny Scalco... who has the on-stage energy of Angus Young. He is exciting to watch and has no difficulty making quick yet lasting connections with the audience. SPANKBABY has played The Viper Room, The Hard Rock, The Roxy and The Dragon Fly to name a few. SPANKBABY appeal is starting to take root as the band recently completed a project working with Jose "Chilitos" Valenezula who found SPANKBABY's song "Endless Crowd" to be an excellent demonstration song to use in his globally distributed book, "The Complete Pro Tools Handbook." He chose SPANKBABY's "Endless Crowd" because it met his need for music that would commercially appeal to the global market of his publication. Also, SPANKBABY has recently completed their music video for the first single off of their EP, “The One Thing”. The video, directed by Ivan Corona of “Singularity Pictures”, stars Chrishell Stause of ABC’s “All My Children”. The highly anticipated seven song EP “Eponymous” was co produced by SPANKBABY and Mark “M2E” Smith, mixed by legendary engineer/mixer Brian Reeves and mastered by Brian Gardner of Bernie Grundman mastering studios.
